No plunger in, the water runs straight through the grounds and into the mug: done at 0:30, and weak. The fix is the plunger itself.
1. Heat water to 85 °C (boiling is fine too)
2. Put a paper in the cap, twist it onto the chamber, stand it on a sturdy mug
3. Add 16 g of medium-fine coffee, one heaping scoop
4. Shake it level
5. Pour slowly to the 4 (a few drops through is normal)
6. Stir gently for 3 seconds
7. Push the plunger in about 13 mm (half an inch), then pull it up a little: the vacuum stops the drip
8. Wait 30 seconds
9. Press gently until it hisses, 20 to 40 seconds
This is the maker's own recipe (AeroPress, Getting Started, with a grinder). Most guides stop the drip by brewing upside down, the inverted method; AeroPress strongly discourages it, because it can tip over full of hot coffee, and uses the plunger seal instead. With pre-ground coffee they say wait 60 seconds. Shown on our own drawing of a generic clear brewer of the AeroPress Clear class.
Which brewer should we do next?
