## Story

In German spas, the steam comes on a timetable.

Guests don't pour the water. The sauna master does. For a Finn, this is like karaoke where only the staff may sing.

Online, there is a war. The towel show, or one quiet ladle? The show is called Aufguss: scented water, music, lights, and a towel that never stops moving. There is even a world championship. Finnish löyly is plain water. No oil. No towel. No choreography.

So why so different? In Finland, the sauna lives at home: more than half of all Finnish homes have their own. At home, nobody needs a master. A big spa is a room full of strangers. Somebody has to hold the ladle. And even in Finland, President Kekkonen never threw his own löyly. Someone else did it for him.

So the towel show is still löyly. Just with an audience. Same water. Same stones.
